Canon Off Camera Shoe Cord OC-E3

From Canon

Improved construction and durability
Better sealing against dust and moisture
Use a Speedlite flash up to 0.6m/2 ft. away
Flexibility to direct light from a variety of angles
Flash connector fitted with a tripod socket for added stability

I bought this to replace an off-brand cord that wasn't syncing with my camera (Canon 20D & 580 EX flash). The off-brand cord was bought to replace the original Canon off camera shoe cord II, which breaks easily. This OC-E3 cord seems to be tougher, though the part that broke on my last Canon cord seems to be exactly the same material on the new one. Time will tell.

The cord is a bit short but long enough for my flash bracket. It seems to be substantial and has operated flawlessly so far. I have not used it extensively. My Vivitar flash bracket has no locking mechanism for the end that goes to the flash and there is the possibility it and the flash can slip off the bracket handle. The other end of the cord has a fastening mechanism as does my Cannon flash. I used a heavy rubber band to secure it. Buyers should be sure their flash bracket has a fastening screw mechanism.
